School administration has over time been dedicated to: Recruitment, motivating and developing personnel required by the organization Helping in creating a healthy working climate and appropriate organizational structure to promote maximum commitment and effort Ensuring that the abilities and skills possessed by people are used to the optimum in pursuance of school organizational objectives Ensuring the organization complies with its legal, social and moral obligations both to employees and to others (including the general public) affected by the organizations activities. Establishing the need for personnel, recruitment and selection, inducting, maintaining and supervising personnel.

The author is serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, University of Nairobi. Previously he served as Registrar, Administration at the University and as a teacher educator in Kaimosi Teachers College and the former Kenya Science Teachers College.
