Die Stücke in dieser Ausgabe sind nicht nur gute Übungen, sondern geben auch eine frühe Einführung in die grundlegende Kunst des Vom-Blatt-Lesens. Das Vom-Blatt-Spiel sollte in irgendeiner Form zu einem festen Bestandteil im Übeprogramm des Schülers werden, wann er immer die Violine hervornimmt. Ziel dieser Ausgabe ist es, den Schüler dazu zu bringen, sich regelmäßiges Vom-Blatt-Spiel anzugewöhnen. Der inhaltliche Schwerpunkt dieser Ausgabe liegt auf idiomatischen Melodien und Strukturen statt auf sterilen Vom-Blatt-Lese-Übungen. Jeder Abschnitt enthält mehrere Solobeispiele, die mit leeren Saiten (Pizzicato und Arco) beginnen, und endet mit Duetten und begleiteten Stücken, die es dem Schüler ermöglichen, beim gemeinsamen Spiel Erfahrungen im Vom-Blatt-Lesen zu sammeln. John Kember studied at Trinity College of Music, London and has enjoyed a varied career in both performing and academic spheres, ranging from teaching in schools and privately, to working as composer, arranger, pianist and conductor in Concert Halls, theatres and recording studios. Currently John is working on a number of new and exciting projects for both publication and performance. He has a busy private teaching practice in south east London and teaches for Kent Music School and the Kent Centre for Young Instrumentalists in Maidstone. John was an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music from 1989 until 2005.
