Markus Hertwig studierte Schulmusik, Diplom-Klavier und Germanistik an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Gymnasiallehrer an einer Schule in Wiesbaden leitet er mehrere Chöre und arbeitet als Arrangeur/Komponist und Pianist. Seit 2011 hat er einen Lehrauftrag für schulpraktisches Klavierspiel an der HfM Mainz.
