Beschreibung

This book is a collection of sermons based on Paul's New Testament letters. They have first been preached in German language to an immigrant German congregation in Atlanta, Georgia. As the church has English speaking members and visitors as well, the author translated the sermons also into English to include the non-German speaking participants by allowing them to read along. Readers of this book will participate in this culture and language crossing adventure. The theology of these sermons are influenced by the Pietistic and Lutheran teachings that the author grew up with in Germany. She then studied theology in Bethel, Heidelberg and Tuebingen and was shaped by the writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and her professor Juergen Moltmann and his Theology of Hope. Her theology broadened while she worked for many years as pastor, hospital chaplain, ACPE Supervisor and therapist. In 2000 she transferred her ordination from the EKU in Westphalia, Germany to its ecumenical partner the United Church of Christ (UCC), a young progressive church comprised of four denominations with the goal to unite all Christians with the principle of "unity in essentials and diversity in non-essentials".
