From the author: For the attention of the reader's new book - part of an interdisciplinary research project of the same name, which I do with 1999 I am interested in what happens to men in the world in which they gradually lose their former dominance and hegemony, what new problems do they face and how do they respond to the challenges of history. Originally I thought to dedicate this subject one book, but the work on the first review article, the head of a training manual on gender studies showed that the problems too much and they should be approached from different angles. The next step was the picture book ""The male body in the cultural history"" that traces the evolution of the male body and how the canon of artistic representation of the naked male body from ancient times to the modern mass culture. Then I spent several years studying the characteristics of the development and socialization of boys, mostly - in the context of developmental psychology, which we have called on inertia the age psychology (kind of thing in the peculiarities of the Russian language - developmental Psychology in Russian somehow does not sound.)
