The Forthcoming Youth Unemployment Situation in South Africa a few months ago, Stats SA released the latest youth unemployment statistics, which revealed that the South African youth unemployment rate had increased to almost 59 % just before the national election took place. The South African youth unemployment rate has for some time been the highest compared to other countries and is followed by Palestine, Greece, Nigeria and Spain. In contrast, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Japan, Hong Kong and Germany have always kept their average annual youth unemployment rate below 5.5 %. Noticeably, emerging economies are more likely to maintain sound macroeconomic policy principles compared to developing countries. The question is, of course, is there any conditional model applied by these emerging economies that can work in South Africa?
