Beschreibung

The improper design of the material can create vibration during dynamic loading and it will cause damage to the components. To minimize vibrations, a material with high damping ratio to be developed. Aluminium Metal Matrix composite plays a major role in fabricating a structural material for corrosive and cryogenic environment application products like Moss- and SPB-type tanks (LNG carrier insulation systems), Arctic chemical processing equipments, pressure vessels, subsea pipelines, ship building, missiles, rocket casing and drill pipes (Offshore Structures). An alternative material for vibration, corrosion and cryogenic environment with increased life span without affecting the properties was mainly focused by many researches. ANMMC was introduced which has a wide range of applications in ships, offshore structures, LNG carrier, pressure vessel because of its high strength to weight ratio, specific stiffness and Corrosion resistance. Aluminium alloy AA5083 is selected as matrix material for many marine and low temperature applications. By adding MWCNT as reinforcement to the AA5083, corrosion resistance / damping property of the material will be improved.
