The recent rapid production of motor drives in the automobile industry with innovative hybrid technologies has created a greater demand for variable speed motor drives with long-term stability and good transient performance. Many of the industrialized drives depend on electric motors for their production, therefore an efficient speed control of the motor is necessary. The essentiality of the Permanent Magnet Brushless Direct Current Motor (PMBLDCM) and its application is felt strongly worldwide. There is a growing demand for the applications of PMBLDCM in the fields of agriculture, residential, industrial and other utility areas. This book is to focus on new controller design to improve the speed performance of PMBLDCM drive system at various set speeds and at different load conditions using intelligent techniques. Using Matlab/Simulink model, speed parameters of drive system is also analysed. This book is about the real-time implementation of improved brain emotional learning-based intelligent controllers for permanent magnet brushless DC motor.

Dr. B. Gunapriya received her Doctoral Degree in the area of Control of Electrical Drives under Anna University. Presently she is working as Professor and Head in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at VSB College of Engineering Technical Campus, Coimbatore. Her research interests are in Power Electronics & Intelligent Drives.
