Cancer is one of the most feared diseases by human beings because of its high mortality and the malignant tumour of the ovary is no exception. In women, ovarian cancer is a neoplasm that occupies the first five places worldwide. It is characterized by being a highly aggressive tumor, late detection, presents non-specific symptoms affecting perimenopausal women, high socioeconomic status, nulliparous among others. Colombia is a multicultural country, located in the intertropical zone at the northern tip of South America, bordered on the north by the Antilles Sea, on the east by Venezuela, Brazil, on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the northwest by Panama and on the south by Peru and Ecuador.This book describes the cases of ovarian cancer attended by age, department of residence, area of residence, educational level, social security system and; estimates the trend of prevalence, mortality and lethality of ovarian cancer between 2009 and 2019 in Colombia.

Adriana Patricia Martínez Ospina werd geboren in de hoofdstad van Colombia, Bogotá, op 14 oktober 1977. Ze is in 2004 afgestudeerd als huisarts van de San Martín University Foundation. Zij is afgestudeerd als epidemioloog aan de Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina en heeft in 2019 een masterdiploma epidemiologie.
