Beschreibung
Over the last few decades, there has been a dramatic increase in the expectation of life of people. But this extension of life also has brought about a change in the morbidity pattern that the number of years lived with some form of disability or ailment has also increased. The health transition in Kerala had occupied centre-stage in the study of the relationship between mortality and morbidity. Though life expectancy has increased due to reduction in mortality rates, the changes in morbidity and its influence on life expectancy were less clear. This book discusses the methodology adopted to compute active life expectancy using primary data and gives a comprehensive picture of the mortality and morbidity scenario of the states of Kerala, India. The book will particularly be useful to researchers and those who are interested in studies on mortality and morbidity of humans.
