Curcuma zedoaria has been well documented in Ayurveda, Unani and Ethnobotonically for its multipurpose use in different disease. Antioxidants have been used to prevent oxidative damage which produces by free radicals and reactive oxygen species. A number of plants have been shown to control diabetes and its complication by improving the antioxidant status. From literature survey, Curcuma zedoaria rhizome has been used for management of diabetes mellitus, though there is no scientific basis to prove this claim. Hence the present work is an attempt to design in-vitro, in-vivo antioxidant and antidiabetic activity of curcuma zedoaria (Rosc.) Family Zingiberaceae and scientifically validate the traditional claim.
